I would say

Sorry you have signed for us and I expect you to fulfill that obligation if you have any honour. In any event career wise long term a move to norwich will be better for you as you will get first team exposure sooner and it is our fierce ambition to be in the premiership next season anyway.

or something like that! It may not work but at least I would expect us to put up a fight!
