We could afford to bring quality in in the terms of numbers that we needed.

So we had a choice - bring a load of Hughes-a-likes - cue the moaning about pissing money away, or hope we didn't get injuries, boost with a few loans where needed and see how the market lay in January.

So, in hindsight, we chose wrong. Like I said, it's a big gamble, but brinksmanship is a dangerous gamble.
