I believe this is based on the formula devised by a website to find the unofficial champion nation of the world since the very first international.

Basically, a team is the champion until they lose - at which point the team that beat them takes over and so on.

Can't remember the website address but, alarmingly, Scotlanmd have been World champions on more than one occasionI
