Excellent choice sir

I could bang on about Scotland for a very long time indeed

Basically, unless you're a golf-nut (unlikely on your honeymoon), the east of Scotland sucks apart from Edinburgh. The beautiful bit of Scotland is the west coast. If I were you, I'd spend most of the time on the west coast, ending with a few days in Edinbugh cos it's a fun, buzzy city.

A few specifics

The tiny island of Iona is a very romantic destination, beautiful white sand beaches, lots of history. The best place to stay is the Argyll Hotel, really laid back, peat-brown water in the bath, organic vegetables from their own garden - User Posted Link

To get to Iona you have to cross Mull, which is a fantastic island. Stay in Tobermory in one of the sea front hotels or B&Bs and visit Calgary beach, take a boat trip to Staffa to see Fingal's Cave (which is really AMAZING - User Posted Link do some of the great walks along the coast or up the hills. Or there's a good hotel near Calgary itself

From Mull you can take a ferry north to the Ardnamurchan peninsula (most westerly point of mainland Britain, very remote) and drive up to Mallaig. Stop at Camus Darach just north of Arisaig for more fabulous white sand beaches. From Mallaig (a dive) take a ferry onto Skye, another great romantic destination, though the only hotel I know on there is horrifically expensive (there are bound to be others though).

Further north from Skye (easy to get to now they've built a bridge to Kyle of Lochalsh) there's a really excellent, good value hotel in Ullapool called the Ceilidh Place - User Posted Link The area round Ullapool is great, lots of good hillwalking, very beautiful.
