I take the point to an extent but most players have enough faith in their own ability to think that they should be in the first team anyway. Whose to say he wouldn't have dislodged Leon from the team if he showed he was good enough.

However if he'd signed for them by lunchtime today it doesn't appear as though we even got to the stage of having talks with him.
