I'd definitely recommend the Three EPs, probably their best work, although the last album was good.

I was gutted when they split, but they are all still making music. You may have heard some of Steve Mason's stuff (as King Biscuit Time) and the Aliens, who are getting a bit of airplay on Radio 1 and XFM, contain the drummer and keyboard player from the Betas. It's all good, but then I am a big fan.
