If someone offers a buyout on an items I'm eBaying, how dodgy is it?

Someone offered me an acceptable price for my old GFX card, wanting to pay by paypal. Unfortunately, it's an auction without buy it now. I know eBay recommends that you don't go private deals, but they would wouldn't they?

Anyone got any thoughts?
