who do think we SHOULD have got?

if they were "top" names (which presumably is all that would placate you) we would now be paying them good money just to sit on the bench. Because I doubt they'd be able to get the team playing better than it currently is so they wouldn't be in the team. So that would be money (fee plus wages) going straight down the drain.
