An ambitious bid for Bristol City's teenager David Cotterill was scuppered at the last minute as Wigan whisked him away.
Nigel Worthington looks unlikely to make any additions to his squad before the transfer window shuts after being horrifically led on by young Welshman David Cotterill.
Cotterill, 18, was set to leave Bristol City and move to Carrow Road in a ?2million deal. Medical and personal details had been agreed for the Wlesh international, but as the Bristol club completed their paperwork, a late bid from Paul Jewell, coupled with the promise of top-flight football, meant that the player decided to move to Lancashire.
