20kg is a pretty high amount...

certainly if you are only going on holiday.

I've often been away for 3 weeks and I've never managed to accumulate anywhere near 20kg (although it feels like it when I have to carry it anywhere).

I suppose if you have a surfboard or something it might be different...

To be fair to the airlines THEY want the rules changed to allow more hand baggage (which doesn't count towards your total). I guess they only have alimited amount of hold space.
