by someone calling him/herself "the rumour mill"........

Hello everyone.

Things seem to be hotting up on the transfer scene. Here's the latest.

There was a rumour going round about Massimo Maccarone, but that seems to have cooled off, and may have just been a lunch order that slipped the net.

There is a lot of talk about Greg Halford, whether we instigated the transfer request is unclear, but of all the teams sniffing, most talk is of Norwich, fee about a million. But, Luton, Brum and Charlton are having a look.

Keeper news! The talk of Rab Douglas seems to have cooled as well, and it seems rather than splashing wedge when Joe Lewis could be in contention next season, a long loan is more likely. Current names are Jimmy Walker of West Ham and David Martin of Liverpool.

Midfield news. A sly story doing the rounds is Kevin O'connor of Brentford. With Rosenior and Brentford getting off to a bit of a flyer, O'connor's all round displays have attracted attention. Whether they are keen to let go or if Worthy wants to tinker with a pretty good display so far, we'll see.

Striker news!
Steve Brooker has reared his ginger, bristol cider drinking head again. What is it with large, immobile, duffers. Why are we linked with them all.
I would personally like to see the other player we've been persistently linked with, Karl Hawley, the stories aren't going away.

Finally, keeping ear to the ground, there has been a story that may surprise a few of us. Its only a whisper, so may be complete cobblers, but apparently Nigel Worthington has been approached for another managerial post. No word as of yet where to, but Norwich's impressive (by standards) start to the season, has attracted attention. I've been wracking my brain cell to think who has got vacancies at the moment, and I'm struggling. Anyone else got any ideas.

The only thing that came to mind was the unrest at Sheffield Wednesday, with Paul Sturrock admitting the club was destabilised by the chairman? We know his fondness for the club. It seems though that the board would just promote Martin Hunter.
