here are some tips

'I asked Guy, a fantasy football obsessive, about his tactics. "Most games concentrate on goals as their main barometer of success, so pick the league's top scorer - usually the centre forward - for the team you think will win the league," he advises. "Another good tactic is to look for defenders who take their team's penalties, as this will mean them gaining many more points than other defenders."

"If you're really clever, you'll know the youngster at a particular team who is going to break through in the first team and be brilliant, chances are he will cost next to nothing at the start of the season," Guy goes on. "Lastly, pick a keeper who is playing for a team with the best defensive record, not necessarily the best keeper!"

What sort of commitment is involved if you want to succeed? "It totally depends which one you are playing - some let you change every week, some don't allow you to make changes until after Christmas, and some make you pay for changes," Guy reveals. "Games where you can change your team frequently definitely favour the football obsessive because it's imperative to keep on top of suspensions and injuries. Banking on a striker to bag a brace against the league's whipping boys is great, but make sure he's not serving a suspension when you pick him." '
