I reckon Cardiff would have offered him a settlement

So if he was on 10k a week at Cardiff, which is what crippled them to admin, and had a year left (480k). I reckon Cardiff probably offered him 200k to go and talk to us, stuck in a promotion clause as we were favourites to go back up

Say we offer him 4k a week for two years, then that's 200k a year from us and 100k if you include the cardiff pay off. Meaning instead of watching Cardiff go down the pan, and stalling his career, he could take a pay off, drop to a normal wage maybe be in a squad that challenges for the prem

None of it worked out properly, but I doubt we really offered him 8-10k a week to play for us at the age of 32

If you move to those figures, we can start speculating that Earnshaws on 20K + a week which I don't think would be accurate
