I think the risk of

400k on suttons wages (I doubt it would be more that 10 a week) for a year (or 9 months of 10 k a week), is fairly minimal

We're never going to know though, unless he comes here and plays

If he goes somewhere else and gets injured in 5 games, it would be stupid to go "oh look, that would have happened here" cos it doesn't mean that at all
