I have long held the theory

that there are virtually no good managers. In my time of watching football the only obviously "good" manager I can think of is Cloughie. Mostly there are bad managers who occasionally get lucky and gather round them a group of players with whom they click for a while - Megson at WBA being the classic example. A new manager would spice things up though, I agree, and I also agree that Worthington is a particularly thick example of the breed.

Woodward is a stupid c**t - but I do think the idea of non-footballers as managers has legs. What made me laugh was when Woodward was pilloried for making some blindingly obvious points about where Sven went wrong. Why precisely were the FA paying ?4 million to a bloke making obvious errors? Because they only employ ex -footballers. Personally I wouldn't trust an ex-footballer to go to the corner shop to buy a packet of fags.
