I agree - money should be the deciding factor

But we, as far as I can tell, haven't discussed this with him. I understand you wanting the club to spend the money on youngsters, but they should (or are likely to be) on peanuts compared to a senior pro. If sutton agreed to a wage in line with the club average, with incentives on top, or a pay as you play (but like you say - would he take it? Maybe if he did really want to play for us) then I'd be tempted to give him a 1 year deal. Others wouldn't.
