the other way to strengthen your calves is to

stand on your tiptoes and go up and down.

then do it on one foot.

then on one foot with your eyes closed.

then on one foot with your eyes closed and crouch down and up again.

then on one foot with your eyes closed dressed as a clown, crouch down, defecate, then up again. repeat.
