Weren't they skint? Indeed, weren't tehy supposed to be hovering on the financial precipice, hence the clear out last Summer which left them laughing and us pretending it was a "coup" to get Thorne from them?
Amongst the 13, some very decent players as well-not only are they looking to complete the signing of Koumas, they have also got Willo Flood, Stephen McPhail and Roger Johnston, all players who would have improved our squad, some decent youngsters from Arsenal (no doubt Jones got on the phone and pestered Wenger, Worthington thinks we have a "special relationship" with Arsenal and just waits for them to phone us!) and others.
Much of this must have come from the money generated by the Jerome sale, but, then again, when he went, the official line was that the money was to go to creditors and Jerome was quoted as saying he was happy his sale had helped save the club.
So where the f**k did they get the money from? Or the ambition? And the kind of bank manager who can restruct, it would seem, a debt that makes it possible to progress and build still? And didn't anyone tell them you can't do business in the Summer?
Good luck to them.
