It's amazing...

the number of years I've worked in radio, and journos will 'rip and read' the latest forecast from PA news wires, rather than look out the window.

I lost count the number of times a journo would waffle on about a dry and cool day, when it's hammering down with snow (or other such extreme). Makes us look lazy and like a bunch of amateur knobs to the listener.
