American politics is pretty much all professional politicians.
Democrats and Republicans are fairly indistinguishable other than fanatics on fringes of both parties. Don't expect many changes if Democrats are voted in. Policy is set from the middle of the spectrum where most citizens are. And believe it or not Bush is not that far from the middle not the fanatic you seem to think he is.
