we haven't signed anyone mainly because have no money left, which is also why the board are very reluctant to pay off Worthington's contract.
The board were banking on the sale of Robert Green this summer to fund signings, and were expecting us to get back to the Prem either this season or next before the parachute money runs out.
I know someone who has close ties with the club and he thinks that Delia is going to need to bail us out again if we don't get promoted this season or there is this slim (but slowly increasing risk) of heading towards administration despite all the spin coming out of the club.
I don't necessarily believe the last bit but it does make me wonder - we were losing money hand over fist the season we got promoted and we now have a bigger (but worse!) squad and a new stand.
What is going to happen when we lose the parachute money? Assuming Greeno will walk for nothing we don't exactly have too many assets left, other than Earnshaw and surely his value must have gone down rather than up ?
Where's the money gone?
Anyone else heard this?
