So the scorpion wanted to cross the river Jordan...

and asked the water rat if he would carry him accross.

The water rat said to the scorpion "You are my sworn enemy and if i let you on my back you will sting me and i will die"

Ah but the scorpion explained "If i sting you and you die. I will drown".

So the water rat allowed the scorpion to climb on his back and began to swim across the Jordan.

Half way across the river the scorpion stung the water rat and as they were both drowning. The water rat cried "Why did you sting me? Now we will both die".

The scorpion replied "Because, you are my sworn enemy and this is the Middle East".
