Just look at the money spent and the players in the following squads las season - Villa, Man City, Middlesboro, Charlton. Admittedly Brum went down having spent massive amounts, and Portsmouth could have followed them but for the ?12m panic spread in January, but with only a few million to spend, you're right up against it.
