Not at all good

- bombing of Beirut airport. Lebanese view this airport as a symbol of national pride after the last lot over there. So bombing it won't go down well.

- Iraq situation is no longer insurgency/counter-insurgency. It's pretty much civil war.

- US is sabre rattling about Syria and Iran. Iran in particular with regard to things in and near Israel just now. Plus there's the ongoing Iranian nuke sit-you-ation. And Bush is an idiot - which needn't be a problem in and of itself, but many of those advising him are idiots too, and that's dangerous.

If this isn't an international crisis with the potential to explode into something really, really horrible then I don't know what is.
