Dear Wolves board and fans

Believe me, there is no better young manager in the Championship than Nigel Worthington to take your fine club back to the promised land.

Tactically astute and fine motivator, he's just the man to get the best out of big name players and problem players, bringing his unique brand of man management and intellect to cajole the last ounce of talent from players - witness his superb handling of Thomas Helveg and David Bentley (who owes his improved form last season at Blackburn to Worthington's coaching skills).

His record in the transfer market is, as I'm sure you'll agree, second to none. Darren Huckerby, Rob Earnshaw and Dean Ashton were persuaded to come to the footballing backwaters of Norfolk when bigger clubs came calling. And his powers of persuasion were again in evidence with the high-profile captures of Carl Robinson, Andy hughes and Dickson Etuhu, all snatched from under the noses of Premiership clubs. Meanwhile, Peter Thorne and Jurgen Colin were surely destined for greater things at a higher level before Mr Worthington broke the bank to secure their signatures.

An astute media manipulator, Worthington knows how to press al the right buttons with reporters and fans alike. His "true fans" comments throughout last season were a masterstroke in firing up an apathetic crowd - witness Norwich's excellent set of last-gasp home wins as evidence that his methods work. Never has such a master of reverse pyschology graced our game.

And finally, his team selections and substitutiosn will win you more games than they lose. Worthington has come up with a fascinating method of playing which has amazingly yet to catch on with other Championship managers. I'm not sure what he calls it but it basically involves playing with no right sided players at all, throwing the opposition into such confusion that their left sided players lose interest in the game and start making daisy chains and playing ring a ring a roses.

In short, to summarise, it would be an awful wrecnh to lose him, but we feel we can no longer stand in the way of the man we have come to know as Big Nige, the greatest coach this side of Dereham.
