My point wasn't that The Clash were a bad band - as it happens I really love them. 'A bit wet' is probably a bit harsh - I just think there were other bands (which I named) taking the "idea" behind The Clash and running into space with it, in a way that I enjoy more.

A lot of The Clash's stuff just sounds fairly traditional to me, and with one or two exceptions (especially Rock the Casbah), I think it's a shame they didn't stop after London Calling.

Gang of Four's first album was amazing - everything else was fairly pedestrian. The Pop Group, however - awesome ...
