I sense that your ostensible irony is, in fact, laced with a certain

naivety regarding this point. There is a fundamental difference between 'Gypsies', which are a race defined by the romany culture and centuries of internal propagating, and 'gypsies, which is a general term afforded to members of a travelling community. Such as the Piko's up at Colney.
