it seems to me that it's not that clement works too hard or attanasio attends too few matches.
it's that the club's stated ambitions, recruitment decisions and performances appear increasingly disconnected.
Speaking to BBC Radio Norfolk following Norwich's ninth-place finish, Attanasio said:
"Our goal is more than just the play-offs."
He explained that the club's internal focus was on finishing in the top two and securing automatic promotion. He also promised to devote the resources available to getting Norwich back into the Premier League.
Philippe Clement: August 2026
Clement offered a more cautious assessment at a supporters' Q&A.
He described reaching the expanded top-eight play-off places as a substantial ambition, acknowledging the strength of the Championship.
He wanted supporters to dream about automatic promotion but emphasised the importance of realistic, match-by-match progress.
The longer-term ambition: November 2024
Attanasio originally outlined a target of returning Norwich to the Premier League within three to five years.
His wider vision is for Norwich to become an established Premier League club, rather than continually alternating between the Championship and the top flight.
there is a huge and more concerningly, widening disconnect between what we are being spoon fed by the people in charge and what we are seeing unfold before us. this isn't just a blip.
