I was running the IT for a syndicate at Lloyds of London.

I got tapped by the MD to send a network message "Stop doing business immediately due to the happenings in NY".

Sent the message then went to check on the internet. We had a fat pipe but couldn't get to any news sites so I went to reception to see what was happening.

All the directors were watching the news. Jesus christ.

We had a man in NY (a property underwriter) scheduled for a meeting in the tower. His wife is calling wanting to know what was going on. (He was fine).

We were on the slip for the buildings. Lloyds didnt write any business for 4 days. Absolute chaos.

I went home eventually and just went to a pub in my high street in Walthamstow.

Just mental. Life changing.
