Good teams are all about spines and units

Start and end of last season we were a bit ropey at the back. In the mid section we had Cordoba and McConville. We were solid.

Same in midfield. When we had McLean and Matteson we dominated games generally.

Get those partnerships right and you can then tinker around them. It’s a shame we’ve lost Ahmed as he also had a good partnership with Slimane but perhaps less pivotal.

“Back to basics” for me means back to those partnerships and working bloody hard.
