Interesting stuff this week at our factory.

Monday, the Ops Director calls everyone together and gives us all this mollifying talk, cooing that he's aware of unrest among the workforce which he can't fathom, and will we all rest assured that he future's brighter than ever, that as soon as the orders start increasing we'll be able to talk about thawing the pay freeze......... generally patting all our heads in avuncular fashion.

Today he sends the Production Manager to tell us that the orders aren't likely to increase for the foreseeable future and so there'll be a bunch of layoffs......sorry and all that but what else can 'we' do?

I'm fairly confident that I'll be all right but wouldn't be too mortified if I were to get the shove. Hey ho. Happy days.
