i was blown away the first time i saw the clifton suspension bridge

so beautiful. brunel did some outstanding work during his life

Designing the Great Western Railway, linking London with Bristol and the West Country.

Building major railway structures including Box Tunnel, bridges and viaducts.

Designing the Clifton Suspension Bridge in Bristol.

Helping construct the Thames Tunnel, the first tunnel successfully built beneath a navigable river.

Designing three pioneering steamships:

SS Great Western
SS Great Britain, the first large iron-hulled, propeller-driven ocean liner
SS Great Eastern, then the largest ship ever built

Promoting his wide-track broad-gauge railway system, intended to provide faster and smoother travel.

All by the time he died at the age 53. What a life.
