He’s played both. Played RB against DRC

So I can understand the logic of most of his selections . James definitely the best RB and provides set piece ability as well but made of glass, so picks Livramento and Spence as they can each cover left and right back. O’Reilly was clearly his first choice LB and can also cover midfield if needed.

Guehi and Konsa his favourite CB pairing but Konsa can also cover RB. He’s got Stones for the experienced cover. Dan Burn for Maguire was a big call but then we have seen why he was picked in two games now. Only one I wasn’t in agreement with was Chalobah. Hopefully won’t need him.

I feel like Tuchel has a plan and a situation for every player but those situations haven’t arisen for Mainoo yet.
