does messi merit a place?

I've dreamt up a theory (without watching him, obvs) that v us (if we all got there) they'd be carrying him basically - too slow, too old, doesn't run about - fine against mediocre sides, but not v good ones - like a better ronaldo, but still shouldn't be there.
Tho maybe that's all nonsense, and he'll go and win it for them ...
