Well you make an interesting argument. Firstly, yes the chip may well determine beyond

doubt that the ball was brushed by his hair, and I suppose technically that was part of the player and therefore offside.

But “in the spirit of the game”, surely the entire purpose of giving any sort of foul in football, whether that be a bad tackle, a handball or offside, is to ensure no advantage is gained from an action outside the rules.

Unless the chip is also showing a clear indication of trajectory change after the hair touch, then I think it is a classic example of using technology to measure a process that was introduced for a non technology situation. When technology is introduced that wasn’t previously available, the entire process should be reviewed.

Surely the chip should be able to map trajectory changes? Just needs an accelerometer and gyrometer in it.
