Outsourcing manufacturing and oil / gas production reduces UK emissions but does not reduce global emissions.

Now we are in an incipient AI revolution which will profoundly change many aspects of life and the global economy. AI has huge energy requirements. This energy supply must be dependable. The UK needs it's own data centres and baseload power for these.

A rough estimate for pre AI cost of the UK to actually transition to net zero was 3-3.5 Trillion GBP. Now with AI it's much less clear but also much more expensive. 5+ Trillion?
