For two rooms in the UK, I’d budget roughly:
£3,000–£5,000 installed for a decent two-room split air-con system.
That usually means either:
Setup Rough installed cost
Two separate single-split systems — one outdoor unit per room £3,000–£5,500
One multi-split system — one outdoor unit feeding two indoor wall units £3,500–£5,500
Budget/basic install if both rooms are easy and close to outside wall £2,800–£3,500
Premium brands / awkward pipe runs / longer electrics £5,000–£7,000+
Checkatrade gives a typical 12,000 BTU wall-mounted split system at about £750 per unit plus around £1,150 installation, while Daikin says residential installs typically start from around £1,800 upwards depending on scope.
For your sort of house, I’d guess £3.5k–£4.5k is the realistic sweet spot for two bedrooms or a bedroom plus living room, assuming straightforward wall mounting and no silly pipe runs.
Also worth knowing: modern fitted air-con units are usually air-to-air heat pumps, so they can heat as well as cool. That can make them more useful than just “two weeks of summer luxury.” You’d need an F-Gas registered installer, and you may want to ask for quiet outdoor units if they’re near bedrooms or neighbours.
