most knew they'd be playing every match, the pressure for places was/is next to nothing

The only time I've really known that to be the case and the team not to give a s**t was the friendly against Denmark

Barring that, I don't think they intentionally don't give 100%, It just occurs naturally as they are seen as indispensible by the coach, fans and still in large parts the media
