a team with few superstars, only expected to win the WC by 3% of their population a few months ago with the vast majority happy to reach the QF and avoid humiliation. And yet who exceeded expectations, played some decent football, got past one of the favourites and reached the semis.

Compared to England, a bunch of celebrity superstars hyped up by the media and themselves as having an excellent chance of winning the thing and who put in 5 displays of totally flairless football before going out in the QF again.

It showed us something about England - what a dismal disappointment we were.
