Are we going to sign anyone?

The season ended on April 30, that's over two months ago. And yet no Bosmans, no signings, no real rumours. A couple of names have come out of the club but I can't remember the last time we signed someone whose name had been previously released by the club. I'm pleased Shackell and Spillane have signed contracts, but these guys won't play 46 games this year. Whether you think Worthy is clueless or not, there's no denying that if we were to buy 2 or 3 good players we'd get into the playoffs and have a chance of going up. And many teams on a 'par' with us have made good signings, Birmingham looks especially strong. But with us making no signings (and it's not as if we set the division alight last year) it's hardly 'prudence with ambition'. It's prudence bordering on stinginess. And don't give us the old "the right players aren't available" or "we've put a bid in for x, y or z", surely the manager knows who he wants and would make it happen if he really wanted a player. Or doesn't he know who he wants? What we'll end up with is a couple of panic buys/frees just before the season starts to get the fans quite excited, and they'll turn out to be crap. Pull your fingers out!
