In defence of the 48 team world cup

1) There are always games between mid-ranking teams int the group stages. That is the world cup until you get to the knock out stages.
2) It gives smaller, mid-ranking countries a chance to participate in the pinnacle of world football
3) There might be some more upsets
4) Exciting new players might break through
5) More goals overall
