First Red was clear as day.
Second red….well, the bloke hit his opponent. Yes, he didn’t knock him out, it wasn’t that hard. But…
If a player deliberately strikes an opponent in the head or face with the hand or arm when not challenging for the ball, they are guilty of violent conduct and must be sent off (red card), regardless of the force used
So he did exactly what he was required to do. It’s not the refs fault the player was stupid, and he had to send him as soon as VAR spotted it.
Third one I get would usually be called a yellow because “cover”. But tbh, zero sympathy with the Mexican defender. Other refs might have called it another way, but fully back the refs judgement.
I think the ref had a good game, and was pretty consistent on what he called as fouls/play on/yellow all game.
