To see the transition between the news telling you what was going on ("5 people were killed today by a man with a gun") to the news telling you how to think and/or feel ("5 killed in Gun Rampage Tragedy") in the most basic terms possible, and it seems to be pervading the "respectable" news sources as well as the likes of the Daily Scum.
Maybe it's coming from overseas (Although I can see an editorial slant more clearly in news from home), but I find that younger people are so bombarded by this they actually start to think in "Tabloidese". Forming your own opinions is bad, m'kay, we'll take care of all that hard work for you so you don't have to engage your brain past what to have for tea tonight.
Everything news-related here, EVERYTHING, now has a text/email in thingee for "your" opinions. Who cares? Why should I give a f**k about Cheryl from Chester or Norman from Northampton? Do I need to know they, personally, are disgusted by a rapist/kiddy fiddler? Not only that, I already know what they're going to say because you've already formed their thoughts for them! It's an artificial, exploitative process to make people feel "included" in the events and in society.
In short, the whole news thing over here is f**king weird!
