“The idea of importing people from overseas”

This isn’t West Germany in the 50s/60s advertising for so-called guest workers. People aren’t being imported by the government, they’re coming of their own free will. I would also add that they’re going in larger numbers to other places, as far as I know.

That’s the tabloid use of language that gets people radicalised, once it gets repeated into common discourse. We don’t need to look far to see where language can take us.
