Far worse than 1990 IMO

The team that promised to be one of the most thrilling in football history somehow developing an even more unbearable version of catenaccio, the runners-up managing to be so violently objectionable that you couldn't support them, very few good games, and the most memorable moments were France imploding, Suarez celebrating his own cheating, and the referees screwing up over Lampard's goal. And the vuvuzelas flattening the atmosphere in every match. I really wanted to enjoy that one, but ... no.
