Italia 90. Watched the Germany match upstairs at the Unthank.

The pool tables had boards on them, people were sitting and standing on them. I had just got a round of drinks at the bar that got trashed when England scored. A bloke standing in the window ledge fell into the room and cut up his leg on a radiator. Chaos. We then drove up pedestrianised London St in our vintage Fiat 500, about 6 of us, 2 out of the roof, on the way to Hy’s. I was 23 with a 19 girlfriend.
Whoever commissioned Nessun Dorma, excellent.

Also our postman at the shop was called Pete, and his wife was called Norma. So each time he came in I’d sing “Pete and Norma, Pete and Norma, to the tune of Nessun Dorma)
