Football-wise it may have lacked some elements

But it was a tournament at the cusp of change, socially, politically and, given the demographic on this board, at an important time in people’s lives. It’s not nostalgia why it’s viewed as important, it actually was emblematic of the state of the nation. We were actually an outward-looking country at that point, much more optimistic and forward thinking. Or if not, at least it felt that way, and the tournament, and its coverage, reflected that.
