I don't think the players would trust him.

He's lost all respectability from his staff at the club. When they'd win a game, every press conference would be the same. 'How did you get your tactics right for that game?'

Also have to consider Southampton's sponsorships. Would they still invest in the club with a cheat in charge?

His position is completely untenable.
