Interesting.

A J Taylor (Norwich fan, incidentally) has been writing recently about the way in which the amateur, Corinthian ethos of 'being a good sport' has somehow managed to survive in football, (and other British-invented sports, I guess). So we expect players to live up to a fair-play ideal which you'd expect to have long since disappeared.

I guess maybe you've come up with one reason why it's happened - because it helps us come up with villains and heroes, and so just makes the whole thing more interesting.

Dunno if he's thought of that....maybe you should email him....
