because we're currently asking refs to give penalties for something *that shouldn't be an offence*.

Who cares if someone's arm is in an unnatural position? You can hold your arm wherever you like as far as we should be concerned *unless you're trying to do The Thing you're not supposed to do in football* - use your hands or arms to play the ball.

That's why things keep going wrong with the rule - because we're literally asking refs to penalise something (where you put your arms) *which shouldn't be an offence*.

For as long as we do this, stupid things are going to happen.
